I just ran across this app today through the Army Wife Network. It just launched and I think it might be an awesome communication tool for those with deployed loved ones. This is what the Facebook page for the app describes it as:
"Simple iPhone and Android app that allows friends and family to request and receive status updates from their soldier. Status updates have been crafted in a manner that does not interfere with OPSEC, but still allows you to know your soldier is safe."
