A little about my life
I
am 29 years old, turning 30 way too soon. While I had a life before I met my
husband, my life truly started when he came into my life. We met when I was 24,
he was 25. After about 4 months of being close friends we started dating. I
knew he was thinking about joining the Marine Corps but he'd been told by his
recruiter that he wouldn't be leaving for boot camp for a few months. So I
breathed a sigh of relief, thinking we had a little while to cement our
relationship and figure out where it was going before he left. That was my
first experience with how the military can disappoint and mess up your well
laid plans, he left 2 months after we started dating. Somehow our fledgling
relationship made it through the 13 weeks of no communication, and we came out
of it knowing we'd both found "The One." We got married in 2008,
shortly after he settled into his first duty station. He of course wanted to
deploy as soon as he could, and ended up leaving about 4 months after we got
married. 3 deployments later and we're still going strong. We have been
together for 5 years now, and just recently celebrated our 4th wedding
anniversary. We do not have children but have 2 awesome dogs (who came from the
animal shelter, adopt, don't buy!) and are about to PCS to our second duty
station. New and exciting things are awaiting us in 2013 and we can't wait!
About the blog
I
started this blog and my support page after receiving some very negative
feedback while my husband was in boot camp. I was put down for saying I missed
him by several military wives. As a military wife who has survived 3
deployments, I would never do what those women did to me. I welcome and support
anyone on my pages, whether they're the newest military girlfriend or the most
seasoned wife. We all have something to learn, and we were all new to the
military life at some point. I am not a professional writer whatsoever, but my
experiences are real so I write from the heart. Enjoy what you find here and
remember you're not alone :)
