Apparently no one tells you when you become a military wife/ girlfriend, that there will be some side effects. It really should be in the marriage contract "May cause these symptoms". Some kind of warning would be nice so you're not completely blind sided. Some are good, pride, honeymoon phase lasting forever, a ton of first kisses. Some are not so good. Like sleep, yeah say goodbye to sleep when you're a military wife. You'll never sleep normally again, and the sleep you do get won't be good. You wake up many times to check your phone for a call and your laptop for an email. The worst part is that you get so used to it that when they are home you're still awake at all hours of the night...except now you have no good reason for it.
Will there ever be a remedy for the side effects of being a military wife? Doubtful. As long as our men and women are out there risking their lives we'll still be at home risking our sleep. Btw, this is being written while I'm laying next to my peacefully sleeping husband. Ugh I so wish I had his gift for dropping off to sleep! How do you do it honey?!
